WORT’s Norman Stockwell to close LACIS’ Fall 2015 Lecture Series

by Sarah Ripp (LACIS)

Norm Stockwell of WORT Radio will be our featured speaker on Tuesday, December 15th at Noon (206 Ingraham). His lecture will complete our lunchtime lecture series for fall 2015.  Stockwell will present “Rebel Reporting” which is a new book by the late journalist John Ross. This book was edited by Norm with contributions by Dr. Robert W. McChesney (Prof of Journalism, Univ of Illinois-Champaign).

John Ross spent the last 35 years of his life covering the struggles of the people of Mexico – from the 1985 earthquake to the uprisings of the Zapatistas in 1994, and the teachers of Oaxaca in 2006. This new book presents a series of lectures by Ross for college students on how to do “Rebel Reporting.” It also includes an extensive investigation into the death of IndyMedia reporter Brad Will in Oaxaca in 2006.

For more information about the book and John Ross, please read “Rebel with a cause” — an article from the December 3-9, 2015 issue of the Isthmus.
