RJ Hayes, a UW-Madison Portuguese MA student, attended International Day at Elm Lawn Elementary on March 12th with a display about Brazil!
Here’s what RJ had to say:
“It was fun! My table lacked artifacts, but I showed the movie “Rio,” kicked the soccer ball around with some kids, quizzed them on Brazilian geography, and taught some useful Portuguese expressions to K4-4th grade students. They had to say something to me in Portuguese to get their fake passports stamped by me. You had to work at my station!”
Thanks for participating in International Day, RJ! It’s so much fun to get local students excited about exploring the world, especially the LACIS region!
LACIS is pleased to provide support for K-12 outreach activities such as International Day through a Title VI grant provided by the US Department of Education.
